While many women have and are making significant strides in the business world, they still grapple with seemingly insurmountable obstacles as entrepreneurs. This is especially the case for women of color.
According to the 2017 State of Women-Owned Businesses report, while the number of women-owned businesses grew 58% from 2007 to 2018, firms owned by women of color grew at nearly three times that rate (163%).
“California is at the forefront of women’s entrepreneurial activity in the United States,” said Xiomara Peña, Small Business Majority’s California Deputy Director. “In fact, a recent survey found 37.2 percent of California’s small firms are owned by women, with 129 new women-owned firms established every day. Unfortunately, the local infrastructure hasn’t yet caught up with business growth as women entrepreneurs struggle to get the technical assistance and capital they need."
Let's shift that, shall we?
Women like you make dynamic business leaders, but many women of color are unaware of opportunities that can help them scale and grow.
